At a Glance

Legrand has an exciting opportunity for a Regional Sales Manager - OEM to join the Wattstopper Team from a Remote Location. The successful candidate will drive profitable sales growth through the development, implementation, and execution of account and regional sales plans. Direct and coordinate sales personnel, direct and or representative agencies, to ensure account and regional sales goals are met and or exceeded for a specific, targeted product family. Develop relationships with external and internal customers so as to maximize communication from the field throughout the Legrand organization.

What Will You Do?

MAIN JOB DUTIES:

  • Develops sales objectives and formulates sales plans for assigned accounts and territories.
  • Sells control products to OEMs within the lighting and electrical industries.
  • Develops relationships with external and internal customers within the functions of purchasing, engineering, manufacturing, product development, marketing, sales, and with the executive team.
  • Develops direct reports and agency salespeople to maximize sales efforts through the specifying community including architects, engineers, lighting designers.
  • Work with specification team members to identify and track project opportunity pipeline and update status with both direct and agency salespeople.
  • Conducts sales presentations for OEMs, owners, architects, engineers, lighting designers, representative agencies, national account distributors, and contractors.
  • Ensure direct and agency representatives have appropriate training.
  • Attends local and national shows providing sales support and expertise with the Wattstopper products.
  • Manage design and support requests from customers to appropriate internal teams to maintain the highest standard of customer support.
  • Performs other similar or related duties as required.
  • Qualifications
    Required Skills

    EDUCATION:
    • Bachelors degree preferred

    EXPERIENCE:
    • 6 years working experience within the electrical specification market, lighting design and or architecture firm to include specific experience supervising sales people, manufacturer representatives, and specification / technical sales.
      • Direct experience working with lighting control systems in product development, marketing and sales, and or lighting agencies preferred.
      • Demonstrated ability to persuade and negotiate mutually beneficial outcomes.
      • Willingness to include heavy travel, sometimes with little notice.

    SKILLS/KNOWELDGE/ABILITIES:
    • Ability to communicate with people at all levels of a business unit.
    • Advanced level of computer literacy. Requires basic skills with Microsoft Office Suite (e.g. Excel, Outlook). Salesforce.com or other CRM software a plus.
    • Demonstrated ability to recruit, hire, and coach sales representatives to success.
    • Leadership and supervisory skills. Support all aspects of the Wattstopper product line and services - technical and business interaction.
    • Familiarity with specific dimming technologies preferred (Phase, 0-10V, DMX, DALI, etc).
    • Ability to read and understand blueprints.
    • Active participation and interaction in Industry associations such as IES, AIA, USGBC, IIDA, IALD strongly preferred.
    • Must have extensive knowledge of the product, the geographic markets and channels we serve, as well as of the electrical and or lighting industries.
    • Must have solid business acumen and understanding of a variety of functional areas within the business.
    • Must understand how to implement marketing strategy and manage teams to that strategy.
    • Strong leadership skills, with demonstrated ability to supervise and manage others.
    • Provide leadership, guidance, development and motivation to staff to achieve superior results and accomplish overall business objectives.
    • Must be able to provide the right balance of guidance/support and autonomy, based upon employees' level of skills, knowledge and competence.
    • Must be highly collaborative and able to work in a team-based environment. Fosters open communication and supports an environment of innovation and creative change.
    • Creates enthusiasm and inspires teamwork and cooperation within the organization and with other functions and Legrand entities.
    • Excellent skills in project management, demonstrated ability to make timely and effective decisions, handle multiple priorities and effectively delegate responsibilities to ensure high quality service is delivered on time and within budget.
    • Must have excellent verbal and written communications skills and be able to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization.
    • Must be an effective listener, able to maintain focus, extract necessary information, and validate understanding of the information.
