At a Glance

Legrand has an exciting remote opportunity for a Associate Software Program Manager to join the Building Control Systems Team reporting to our Carlsbad,CA office. The successful candidate will partner with product development and product management teams to bridge communication and program tracking among the organization. Incumbent must have a natural ability to organize, detail-oriented and follow-through with a "Get it done" attitude, tempered by a strong ability to build relationships and influence individuals. In addition, influence by relationships rather than authority. Bring clarity to disorder as they represent customer needs and develop plans embracing engineering perspectives, processes or standards.

What Will You Do?

  • Create a master Project Management Plan in collaboration with engineering managers and other internal and external stakeholders.
  • Develop and refine product backlogs in cooperation with product management and development teams.
  • Utilize Atlassian Jira software to track programs through system sprints.
  • Ensure all product requirements are linked to engineering change order specifications and represent customer satisfaction of those requirements.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to develop and/or provide budget input and create project plans.
  • Ensure implementation of production, quality and customer-service standards by resolving problems, completing audits, identifying trends, determine system improvements and implementing change.
  • Enhance department and organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests and exploring opportunities to add value to project accomplishments.
  • Convey to team and Manager on program performance, including gathering team feedback and presenting insights to identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Assure relevant engineering standards, process and regulations are upheld.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required Skills

EDUCATION:
  • Bachelor of Science required in Management Information Systems, Electrical Engineering or Computer Science - preferred; Master's degree in electrical engineering or Computer Science, a plus.

EXPERIENCE:
  • Minimum 2 years' experience working in an Agile environment, including in a scrum master or as a project manager capacity, preferred. Minimum 2 years of experience managing geographically dispersed teams required.
  • Familiarity with Jira Workflow Management Tool, preferred.
  • RTOS - Real time operating system experience, required.

SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES:
  • Working knowledge of engineering principles and techniques related to engineering project management. Solid project management skills using software applications for multiple simultaneous projects.
  • Advanced use of computers and Microsoft Office Suite applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and project management software applications. Familiarity with Atlassian Jira issue tracking application.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and/or deal with abstract or concrete variables. As well as manage ambiguity and collaborate with stakeholders to bring clarity to issues and resolutions. Anticipates potential objections/issues in project; prepares short and long term solutions to issues.
  • Ability to communicate orally and in writing while keeping lines of communication open and effective among all project stakeholders.
  • Ability to adapt between highly technical audiences and business audiences with ease.
  • Strong planning and organizational skills, self-starter, and detail oriented. Able to follow-through on assignments while multitasking and prioritizing various tasks according to business needs and within a fast-paced environment.
  • Working knowledge in analyzing situations, stay calming, and distinguishing between root cause and symptoms. Ability to define and understand tasks in the scope of the program schedule. Ability to determine impacts to resources such as labor force, overtime, utilization of equipment and float time.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or government regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and streamline processes or procedures. Ability to successfully present information to respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, and internal or external customers.
  • Working knowledge to establish contractual relationships for a project and ensure performance is consistent with those agreements, including successful communications with owner(s) and key project stakeholders (project management, financial stakeholders, local government officials, and sub-contractors) for each project.
  • Ensure that projects remain focused on the letter and intent of approval documents and, when necessary, document changes. Assures all documents used are complete, protect the owners' interests, clearly define expectations, and provide incentive to complete projects within customer deliverables.
  • Ability to identify risks to schedule and quality; identify responsible individuals, and follow-up frequently to achieve resolution.
  • Ensures that the quality workmanship (including engineering and project management) meet or exceed standards identified in approval documents while remaining within the project budget.
