At a Glance

Legrand has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Software QA Engineer to join the Software Center of Excellence Team in Pleasant Grove, UT. This position assists in developing strategy as well as tactical implementation of QA automation frameworks, automated test suites and manual test suites. They will coordinate and lead a team of QA engineers in the successful execution thereof. They are able to collaboratively specify and then attain fundamental operational QA KPI's.

These test suites will execute within Continuous Integration environments, as well as stand-alone, and will run against desktop, mobile, and cloud software applications and systems. Subsequent reporting and triage of defects collaboratively with the development team(s) are part of the cycle.

Creating virtuous cycles of continuous improvement of the quality and comprehensiveness of the Test Suites, and Automation Frameworks is a strategic and vital responsibility of this role.

This role develops these QA systems and processes to mature and release Legrand software used to commission and control best-in-class residential and commercial building control systems.

What Will You Do?

MAIN JOB DUTIES:

  • Architect, design, code automated, manual and semi-automated test suites utilizing industry frameworks.
  • Work on the development and improvement of methods and procedures that improve product launches.
  • Work with product management and software development team to create QA specifications that meet customer use case requirements and support a broad spectrum of home and building automation products. Includes development of new innovative applications.
  • Contribute in all phases of the development lifecycle
  • Analysis and maintenance of QA support and ongoing validation of current applications.
  • Be capable of working with a software and product development teams in a fast paced and innovative technology environment.
  • Performs other similar and related duties as required

    EDUCATION:

    • BS required; Computer Science or Computer Engineering preferred

    EXPERIENCE:

    • Minimum 8 years' experience in designing, developing automated test suites. Minimum of 2 years technical lead of a team of 2 or more software testers.

    SKILLS/KNOWELDGE/ABILITIES:
    • Expertise in C#, Python or similar language in scripting workflow automation
    • Familiar with the Agile development methodology, Lean Engineering for Software
    • Proficiency in using defect and change request systems, with focus on well-written and comprehensive/quantified defect reports.
    • Must have a good understanding of software requirements engineering.
    • Must have excellent skills in identifying test plans and documenting test cases/results in an online tool.
    • Must be able to identify and implement implied test scenarios (for example, scale and performance testing) that may not be explicitly documented in requirements document
    • Knowledge of and experience with object-oriented architecture and design.
    • Proficiency building integration, white box, black box tests and in data-driven testing and similar Software QA methodologies.
    • Must have proficient programming skills, including familiarity with data types, syntax and control structures.
    • Able to evaluate situations, identify options and implement effective solutions quickly and efficiently. Possess strong analytical skills and the ability to identify trends and establish proactive corrective actions.
    • Requires strong organizational and time management skills, close attention to detail and be able to effectively handle multiple priorities. Independent judgment is required to plan, prioritize, organize and accomplish a diversified work load.
    • Must have strong computer skills, proficient with word processing, spreadsheet and presentation software, e-mail and meeting management software. Ability to use internet and web-based resources efficiently and effectively.
    • Demonstrated problem analysis and problem resolution at both a strategic and functional level. Must be able to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems.
    • Must have excellent verbal and written communications skills and be able to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization. Must be an effective listener, able to maintain focus extract necessary information and validate understanding of the information.
    • Must be highly collaborative and able to work in a team-based environment.
    • Demonstrated ability to understand customers' needs and identify new ways to serve/satisfy customer.
