At a Glance

Legrand has an exciting opportunity for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join the Data Center Power & Control Team in Anaheim, California. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and maintaining mechanical sheet metal products for use in electronic equipment enclosures, components, and subassemblies.

What Will You Do?
  • Design and document new mechanical products, sub-assemblies, and/or components for use in assigned product lines. Create models, drawings, bills of materials, and other production documents necessary to manufacture the products.
  • Maintain existing mechanical products and documentation (design improvements, cost savings etc.) and product databases through Engineering Change process.
  • Maintain Solidworks CAD System knowledge through upgrades and enhancements.
  • Performs other similar and related duties as required.

Qualifications


Required Skills

EDUCATION:
  • BS in engineering or technology or equivalent 8+ years of experience in mechanical design.

EXPERIENCE:
  • Minimum 4 years mechanical design experience in sheet metal, plus. Familiarity with Solidworks, SAP, and 19" electronic enclosures is a plus.

SKILLS/KNOWELDGE/ABILITIES:
  • Extensive knowledge of sheet metal manufacturing processes including CNC punching, forming, and welding. Extensive knowledge of drafting, tolerances, and documentation practices.
  • Strong computer skills, proficient with word processing, spreadsheet and presentation software, e-mail and meeting management software. Ability to use internet and web based resources efficiently and effectively. Proficient in the use of 3D CAD software. Skilled Solidworks users are preferred.
  • Must be highly collaborative and able to work in a team based environment. Fosters open communication and supports an environment of innovation and creative change.
  • Must be capable and ready to function in a lean, fast paced design environment, both individually and collaboratively.
  • Requires strong organizational and time management skills, close attention to detail, and ability to effectively handle multiple priorities. Must possess excellent project management skills, including demonstrated ability to develop and manage to a project plan, establish priorities, work to deadlines, and control several projects at various stages of work.
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communications skills and be able to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization. Must be an effective listener, able to extract necessary information and validate understanding of the information.
