Entry Level Associates- First Shift (6:00AM-2:30PM) & Second Shift (3:00PM-11:30PM)

Legrand has an exciting opportunity for an Entry Level Associate at our West Hartford, CT facility for our 1st shift operation (6:00AM-2:30PM) and our 2nd shift operation (3:00 pm - 11:30 pm). This position pays $13.25/per hour. As an Entry Level Associate, you will perform fabrication and assembly operations to produce products of all kinds, including more complex operations.

What Will You Do?

  • Fabrication and assembly activities include, but are not limited to, pressing, tapping, welding, sealing, labeling, stamping, counting, loading and unloading products and cartons and pallets. In addition, cutting to length and fabricating wires and assembling power/data devices into products including terminating connections and testing of assemblies or finished products. Taking direction from appropriate Group Leader or supervision.
  • Potentially packs, seals, and labels all raceway products utilizing tools and equipment as needed. Makes minor adjustments on assembling and packaging machines and small hand tools to maintain quality. Taking direction from appropriate Group Leader or supervision.
  • Uses a variety of hand tools, screw drivers, tapping machines, automatic and semi-automatic machinery. Makes minor adjustments on assembling and packaging machines and small hand tools to maintain quality.
  • Records, maintains, and reports on materials handled, packed, stored, or transported using applicable company systems.
  • Places completed work in designated location, potentially using basic material handling equipment.
  • Loads and unloads work in process to machines required in their rotation, including restarts and resets as needed.
  • Maintains equipment and materials in good repair and maintains an orderly work area consistent with 5C practices and the Wiremold Production system.
  • Performs Total Preventive Maintenance (TPM) schedules and assignments as required for the tools, equipment and small machines used in the performance of this function.
  • Complies with all OSHA safety and Company safety procedures and works in a safe manner to insure both personal safety and safety to others.
  • Performs all assignments with attention to quality standards of workmanship.
  • Records quality and productivity information as necessary.
  • May work alone with periodic supervision or may work with a group depending on the products being assembled or the tools and equipment being operated.
  • Performs other work as directed by supervisor.


  • Qualifications
    Minimum Requirements:
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English fluently. High school education or equivalent.
  • Six (6) months prior experience in a manufacturing/warehouse environment, ideally involving wiring and assembly. Other consideration may be given for prior experience for corporations who highly utilize continuous improvement activities.
  • Must be able to use basic hand tools and measuring instruments.
  • Must demonstrate an ability to perform standard work using takt time and standard work.
  • Must be able to perform all work assignments within the classification in a rotation within the work cell, in a productive and efficient way, producing work of good quality.
  • Must be willing to cross train on all rotation assignments in the work cell.


  • Essential Mental Functions:
  • Must be able to work from the paperwork, including but not limited to blueprint or standard work sheets, when the work assignment requires.
  • Must be able to solve mathematical equations.
  • Must have good organizing and prioritization skills

    • Subject to a variety of hazards including moving mechanical parts, electrical current, exposure to high heat or exposure to chemicals.

    Visual Acuity
    • Dealing with data and figures, accounting, transcription, computer terminal, extensive reading, visual inspection involving small defects/parts, operation or machines, using measurement devices, assembly or fabrication of parts at distances close to the eyes.
