At a Glance

Legrand has an exciting opportunity for a Sr. Electronics Technician to join the Data Center Power & Control Team in Reno, Nevada. The successful candidate wil be responsible for working as part of the Product Design team to build and test prototype circuits and troubleshoot circuits and hardware that include analog, digital, and microcontroller-based components. The Sr. Electronics Technician may be assigned complex tasks requiring a greater knowledge and skill and must be comfortable working around high voltage. This position will ensure that all assigned duties are performed quickly, efficiently, and according to the established departmental and company policies, procedures and goals.

What Will You Do?
  • Build and test prototype circuits and test fixtures with the aid of design engineers.
  • Construct electromechanical power control prototypes from engineering drawings.
  • Troubleshoot production and prototype circuits and hardware that include analog, digital, and microcontroller-based components.
  • Setup, perform, and document experiments under the direction of R&D engineers.
  • Maintain engineering lab (equipment, calibration schedules, inventory).
  • Assemble and rework printed circuit assemblies that include thru-hole and fine pitch SMT components.
  • Use lab equipment including personal computers, digital oscilloscopes, precision meters, and power supplies required to perform testing duties.

Qualifications


Required Skills

EDUCATION:
  • Associate's degree, with emphasis in Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering with Firmware/Software background with related experience

EXPERIENCE:
  • Minimum of 2 years experience troubleshooting electro-mechanical equipment at hardware, firmware, and network interface level, utilizing various electronic test equipment including network and data analyzers, preferred.

SKILLS/KNOWELDGE/ABILITIES:
  • Knowledge of analog, digital, and high voltage circuitry.
  • Must be capable of soldering and reworking fine pitch SMT circuit components (IPC certification preferred).
  • Advanced diagnostic and troubleshooting skills, with a logical approach to both mechanical and electronic problem-solving.
  • Strong internet networking skills and protocol knowledge required.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills with the ability to provide information across multiple groups in the Company including Engineering, Marketing, and Sales.
  • Strong organizational and planning skills and the ability to work independently.
  • Computer proficient with knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Word/Excel/Outlook).
  • Ability to travel domestically as required.
  • Experience working with commercial high voltage (120 - 480VAC).
  • Familiarity of ISO 9000 standards and audit process.
