At a Glance

Legrand has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Credit Manager to join the Electrical Wiring Systems Team in Syracuse, NY. The successful candidate manages the Credit, Collection and Customer Financial Services functions for EWS. Develops operational goals for department and implements protocols and procedures. Ensure key metrics are tracked and achieved. Create a performance driven culture. Manage customer credit risk. Supervises Accounts Receivable, Customer Financials Services and Credit Representatives who are responsible for conducting credit investigation and collecting on delinquent accounts. Handles staffing, training, and development of team members across EWS entities.

What Will You Do?
  • Manage credit, collections and customer financial services staff in each of the EWS entity locations. Select, train, develop and review staff performance, assist with establishing goals and managing performance per company guidelines.
  • Measure key performance metrics and drive improvements in key operating metrics such as PD %, DSO, unapplied cash aging, and chargeback aging.
  • Develop and communicate operational goals for department, monitor performance against goals and take corrective action as required to ensure performance to goals.
  • Establish guidelines and parameters for setting credit limits on customer accounts, protocols for changing established credit limits for specific customers based upon circumstances. Review collection reports to ascertain status of collection and balance outstanding and to evaluate effectiveness of current collection policies and procedures.
  • Audits delinquent accounts considered to be uncollectable; ensure maximum efforts have been taken before assigning bad credit status to account.
  • Monitor the percentages of aged accounts to ensure DSO is maintained at optimal levels.
  • Review and approve adjustments to accounts.
  • Performs other similar and related duties as required.

    EDUCATION:
    • B.S. in Accounting or Business Administration

    EXPERIENCE:
    • 5+ years as Credit Manager in a manufacturing environment, managing a staff, with an emphasis on credit, collections and customer financial service

    SKILLS/KNOWELDGE/ABILITIES:
    • Must have strong financial control background and demonstrated problem solving and analytical skills. Must demonstrate good judgment, well developed business ethics, integrity and consultancy skills.
    • Requires excellent organizational and time management skills, close attention to detail and be able to effectively handle multiple priorities. Independent judgment is required to plan, prioritize, organize and accomplish a diversified work load.
    • Strong computer skills, proficient with word processing, spreadsheet and presentation software, e-mail and meeting management software. Ability to use internet and web based resources efficiently and effectively.
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills, strong interpersonal skills and conflict resolution skills required. Must have the ability to communicate persuasively and effectively and manage multiple priorities in an intense, deadline driven environment.
    • Solid leadership skills, with demonstrated ability to supervise and manage others. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
    • Establishes and maintains employee performance standards. Works with employees to set goals and define development needs. Provides ongoing, timely feedback and periodic formal performance evaluations, per company guidelines. Focus on driving performance from team.
